June 14, 2024 – 729 students from the Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) received financial assistance through the CHED Tulong Dunong Program. This initiative, spearheaded by Congressman Rommel T. Angara, provided each beneficiary with a stipend of PHP 7,500.

This kind of activity is in alignment with UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 – ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education.

The event was led by the ASCOT Students Affairs Services Office. Ms. Glenda Nad-Gines, Director of ASCOT Sentro ng Wika at Kultura, delivered a message on behalf of Vice President for Academic Affairs Ma. Luz F. Cababatan.

ASCOT President Renato G. Reyes was also in attendance, expressing gratitude to CHED Regional Office III and Congressman Angara for their support. “Nagpapasalamat ako sa CHED at kay Congressman Angara. Napakalaking tulong hindi lamang sa ating mga estudiyante kundi pati na rin sa mga magulang itong mga ganitong programa” he said.

In his speech, Congressman Angara emphasized his full support for such initiatives and encouraged students to study diligently. “Full support kami sa mga ganitong adhikain, ang pakiusap ko lamang sa ating mga magaaral ay pagbutihin ang kanilang pagaaral” he said.

Hon. Rhett Angara, Mayor of the Municipality of Baler, also addressed the beneficiaries, echoing the importance of education before anything else.

Dr. Alma S. Bayudan gave the closing message, thanking the program organizers and supporters for their commitment to student welfare. The event was graced by notable guests including Hon. Butch Bautista, Board Member; Atty. Patrick Alexis Angara; Julius Caesar Grefalda, member ASCOT Board of Board of Trustees; and Maria Irene G. Bonus from CHED RO III Administrative Division.

The CHED Tulong Dunong Program provides essential financial assistance to ASCOT students, alleviating financial stress and enabling academic focus. This support is crucial for student success and institutional development, highlighting the importance of community and government support in education.
