The visit of the CLSU officials to ASCOT provided a a sneak peek of an exciting exchange of best practices in academic and scientific endeavors.
The guests from CLSU, including Dr. Rich Milton R. Dulay, Head of the Center for Tropical Mushroom Research and Development; Dr. Eden S. David, Director of the Quality Assurance Office; and Dr. Angeles De Leon, Dean of the College of Science, Dr. Ma. Elizabeth C. Leoveras, Director of Auxiliary Service, and Dr. Sofronio M. Kalaw from the Department of Biological Sciences, engaged in discussions focusing on potential collaborations and mentoring opportunities in research, publications, Quality Assurance, and Auxiliary Services.
Pres. Reyes expressed his commitment to strengthening the existing partnership between ASCOT and CLSU, emphasizing the mutual benefits both institutions can offer each other. “Marami pwedeng i-offer ang CLSU sa ASCOT. Marami rin naman pwede i-offer ang ASCOT sa CLSU. Kaya quits lang tayo.”
He also emphasized the significance of ensuring that all theses are translated into valid publications before students graduate from the graduate program. He further stressed the requirement for faculty members to have Scopus-indexed publications before they can teach in graduate programs. “To prepare the faculty for these requirements, magwo-workshop tayo.”
Overall, both ASCOT and CLSU showed enthusiasm and eagerness to explore further collaborations, aiming to enhance academic and scientific endeavors in the province. The visit served as initial steps for strengthening ties and fostering greater cooperation between the two institutions.
