The Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) is undergoing the 3rd Survey Phase 2 Program Accreditation Revisit for its Bachelor of Secondary Education programs, with majors in English, Filipino, Biological Science, and Technology and Livelihood Education. This event is taking place from June 26-28, 2024.

The program commenced with a welcome speech by Dr. Ma. Luz F. Cabatan, Vice President for Academic Affairs expressing her delight and positivity for the 3-day activity. Following her, Dr. Marinel P. Dayawon, Coordinator of the 3rd Survey Phase 2 of the AACCUP Accrediting Team, emphasized the importance of passing the accreditation for the college’s various programs. Accreditation affirms institutions’ adherence to rigorous standards, bolstering prestige and aiding funds in identifying worthy initiatives. It includes evaluations to pinpoint strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement, serving as a benchmark for State Universities and Colleges (SUCs).

ASCOT President Renato G. Reyes also delivered an inspiring speech. “Accreditation and assessment are important exercises in the curricular program. It is through these exercises, we can identify the strength as well as the weaknesses of our curricular programs. It is also through these exercises where opportunities may be created.”
Kristine Joy M. Frago-Galang, Head of Quality Assurance, introduces ASCOT key officials, faculty of the School of Education who are participating in the accreditation process and the AACCUP accreditors which includes Dr. Marinel P. Dayawon, Professor VI and University Director from Isabela State University; and Mary Joy A. Castillo, Associate Professor and team leader of BSED Program.

Engr. Oscar Barawid concluded the opening ceremony with his closing message, expressing optimism and confidence in the college’s efforts.

Present also on the opening program were AACCUP Institutional Team led by Dr. Ma. Luz F. Cabatan; Dr. Rowel Olila, Dean School of Education, Quality Assurance Office staff; and ASCOT’s AACCUP Accreditation Task Force.
This accreditation not only enhances the reputation of the institution but also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 4): which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
